Mount Bulusan
An active stratovolcano in southern Luzon, 1,535 metres high, with a permanent danger zone that keeps people 4 kilometres from the crater.
The cone rises on the northeast rim of the Irosin caldera, which formed about 36,000 years ago, and measures 15 kilometres across at the base. Four craters sit near the summit, and four hot springs lie around the mountain: Mapaso, Masacrot, San Benon and San Vicente. Bulusan makes sudden steam-driven explosions and has erupted 15 times since 2016, which puts it fourth for activity in the country after Mayon, Taal and Kanlaon. It stands in the province of Sorsogon in the Bicol Region, 70 kilometres southeast of Mayon Volcano and about 390 kilometres southeast of Manila.
