Donsol put Sorsogon on the map when the whale sharks turned out to arrive there every year, and the town built a season around taking visitors out to swim beside them. This is the last province on Luzon: drive south past Sorsogon City, the capital, and the road ends at Matnog, where the ferries leave for Samar across the San Bernardino Strait.
