Cassamata Hill National Park
The hill above Bangued, a protected park of 57 hectares climbed by a winding road or on foot by concrete stairways. From Victoria Park at the summit you look down on the town and along the whole Abra River valley, with the Cordillera Central on one side and the Ilocos range on the other. Mount Banti Goolong, 990 metres tall and called Sleeping Beauty by people here, stands out from that point.
The hill became a protected area in 1974. It also holds a swimming pool, a hotel, an amphitheatre, a water reservoir and a shrine to the Virgin Mary. The Ilocos Sur to Abra road runs past the southern edge of the municipality, so the park is easy to reach.
