About Rizal
This Rizal is the one in Kalinga, formerly called Liwan, and it holds the oldest evidence of hominins anywhere in the Philippines. Butchered rhinoceros bones found here, confirmed in 2018, date back about 709,000 years and reset the timeline of Philippine prehistory. Some 20,500 people live in the town.
