About Region III (Central Luzon)
Central Luzon grows most of the country's rice on the largest plain it has, and Pampanga cooks it better than anywhere else, a claim Kapampangans make without blinking. Seven provinces: Aurora, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac and Zambales, plus Angeles and Olongapo, which run their own affairs. San Fernando in Pampanga is the regional centre and hangs the giant lanterns every December, and Pinatubo is the mountain that rearranged the map in 1991.
