About Bulacan
Francisco Balagtas wrote verse well enough that Tagalog named its poetic debate, the balagtasan, after him, and he came from Bulacan, which later gave the First Philippine Republic its constitution at Barasoain Church in Malolos. Malolos is still the capital. The pastillas from San Miguel come wrapped in cut paper, and Obando dances in the street each May for the couples who want children.
