About Olongapo City
Olongapo grew around an American naval base and then had to work out what to be without one. Part of the city falls inside the Subic freeport that replaced it, which is where the duty free shopping and the beaches are, and the colour coded jeepneys running fixed routes are a local institution. It sits inside Zambales and is governed apart from it.
