Baclaran Church
A national shrine to Our Mother of Perpetual Help, one of the largest Marian churches in the country, open 24 hours a day through the year since 1958. Devotees fill it on Wednesdays for Mass and the novena, so many of them that Wednesday is called Baclaran Day in Manila for the traffic it brings.
The icon above the main altar came from Germany, carried here by Redemptorist priests in 1906. The feast day is June 27. On the grounds stands the Bantayog ng mga Desaparecido, for the people who disappeared under the Marcos dictatorship.
