About Pateros

Balut comes from Pateros. Duck raising was the trade here for generations, and the town still turns out red salty eggs and inutak, a local rice cake. It also makes alfombra, a slipper with a carpet-like top. All of this happens in the only municipality left in Metro Manila, a town of about 67,300 that never turned into a city while everything around it did.
