Wattah Wattah Festival

no rating yet ♥ 3

The feast of Saint John the Baptist, held every June 24, when people douse each other with water in the street. The image of the saint goes in procession down N. Domingo Street and Pinaglabanan Street, with dancing and parades. The city has kept the festival since 2003.

From 2025 the dousing is allowed only at the Pinaglabanan Shrine and along Pinaglabanan Street between N. Domingo and P. Guevarra, and it must stop at 2 pm. A city ordinance bans dirty water, ice, glass bottles and anything that would hurt on impact, and it bans dousing commuters inside public transport.

Where it is

No pin for this one: a fiesta fills a whole town, so the site keeps no false point. The map below is San Juan City itself.

Say in the thread where the procession starts and an editor can set the pin.
