About Davao del Norte
Banana country. The Cavendish plantations around Tagum and Panabo load out of Davao Gulf by the shipload, and green fruit in blue bags is what the roadside looks like for kilometres. Samal Island, offshore, is where Davao goes on a weekend, and the Monfort cave there holds one of the largest colonies of fruit bats anywhere. Tagum is the capital and largest city.
