The tallest mountain in the country, 3,143 metres above sea level, and this city is one of the well known places to start the climb. One trail leaves from Lake Agco in Barangay Ilomavis, and two more run to Santa Cruz and to Magpet. The Philippine eagle, which is close to extinction, lives on the mountain.
Mount Apo Natural Park also holds Lake Venado, at 2,200 metres, and the Mandarangan Geological Site, which is promoted for educational visits.
