Fort Pikit
Two Spanish gun towers and a rubble wall 38 metres a side, on a hill behind the municipal hall of Pikit, facing the National Highway. The Spanish built the fort in 1893 as they pushed into what remained of the Maguindanao Sultanate. They planned it for one military officer, 60 infantrymen and 6 artillerymen.
Every army that followed used it. The Americans took control in 1902, then the Philippine Constabulary, then Japanese forces in the Second World War, and the Allies won it back in their Eastern Mindanao campaign. The Philippine Army and later the Philippine Marines held it until the marines left in 2007. It became a National Historical Landmark in 2012, the first in Cotabato province.
