About Talisay City

The name comes from the talisay tree, which grew thickly along this coast before the subdivisions arrived. Talisay is now the most populous component city in the Visayas, about 263,800 people packed in just south of Cebu City, and it has applied to be reclassified as highly urbanised. There is another Talisay City over on Negros, and the two are confused constantly.
