Island
Panaon Island
An island about 30 kilometres long at the south end of Leyte, linked to the main island by the Wawa Bridge. Four towns share it: Liloan, San Francisco, Pintuyan and San Ricardo. Liloan is the largest, and people live from coconut, rice, fish and edible green leaves.
Scuba diving and whale watching, called Tikitiki here, are what visitors come for. The water around the island became the Panaon Island Protected Seascape in 2025, under Republic Act No. 12238.
