About Kalibo
Kalibo is the capital of Aklan and its largest town, 93,218 people, and for one week every January it is the loudest place in the Visayas. That is the Ati-Atihan, the festival the other January parades have spent decades imitating. The rest of the year Kalibo weaves piña cloth from pineapple fibre, a craft the UNESCO intangible heritage list took up in 2023, and keeps the Bakhawan mangrove park on the edge of town.
