About Makato

Makato runs an Ati-Atihan of its own for the Santo Niño, which puts it in a long-running argument with Kalibo about where the festival actually started. The town's own account calls it the home of the celebration, and devotees come from outside the province for it. About 30,650 people live in Makato.
