Manggahan Festival
The island's mango festival, and the reason most visitors come in May. It runs the whole month, and it first ran on 22 May 1993, the day Guimaras marks its founding as a province. Locals wear mango-inspired costumes and build mango-themed floats for a parade that makes its way around the island.
Stalls sell mango pastries and confectionery, and plain mangoes, in large quantities. Other events are an agricultural trade fair, a mango eat-all-you-can, and a street dancing and cultural competition. The sweetest variety here is the Guimaras Super, also called Galila. The season is also when people go out to the mango farms, such as the Oro Verde Mango Plantation.
