About Iloilo City
Iloilo City is seven old towns stitched into one, which is why an Ilonggo names the district before the city: City Proper, Jaro, Molo, Mandurriao, La Paz, Arevalo and Lapuz. Two of them gave their names to food that is now eaten nationwide, La Paz batchoy and pancit molo. Dinagyang takes over the streets every January. It is the largest city in Western Visayas, on the south-eastern coast of Panay.
