Tabaco Church

The city's parish church, and a National Historic Landmark since August 1, 1973 under Presidential Decree 260. Work on the present building started in 1750.
The Franciscans founded the parish under Saint John the Baptist, and it became independent in 1616 with Father Pedro de Alcareso as the first permanent parish priest. Franciscan missionary work in the town started in 1587, and an earlier church stood at Cormidal, built in 1731. The church is also a National Cultural Treasure of the Philippines. The city fiesta for the patron saint falls on June 24.
