About Batangas City

The port is the reason Batangas City matters: the ferries to Mindoro leave from here, and the container traffic is among the heaviest in the country. It is the provincial capital, and the shared name causes enough confusion that people add the word City out of habit. Batangas eating means bulalo and goto, and the beef comes from the same province.
