About Calatagan

One of the rarest objects in Philippine archaeology came out of Calatagan: an earthenware burial jar from the 13th or 14th century, incised with a pre-Hispanic script of the Baybayin family that traces back through Javanese writing to Brahmi. The town itself is an ordinary Batangas municipality of about 60,400 people.
