About Tayabas City
Tayabas gave the province its old name and then lost the capital to Lucena next door. What it kept is the stone: more than twenty Spanish colonial bridges, ancestral houses, and old crosses that people once treated as the dwellings of nature spirits. The local drink is lambanog, distilled from coconut sap and strong enough to explain a few things.
