About Quezon

Every 15th of May, Lucban hangs rice-paste kiping and whole vegetables off the front of its houses for Pahiyas, and eats pancit habhab off a banana leaf with no fork in sight. The province carried two earlier names, Kalilayan from 1591 and then Tayabas, before taking the name of President Manuel Quezon in 1946. Lucena is the capital, and the province runs long and narrow down the Pacific side.
