About Palayan City

Congress invented Palayan in 1965, one of only seven planned cities in the country, then built the provincial capitol, the convention centre and the sports centre there and waited for people to arrive. Not many did. It is the least populated city in the Philippines, and Cabanatuan, seven times its size, is what people mean when they say Nueva Ecija. The name means rice field.
