Pinamalayan has 90,420 people in 37 barangays on the east coast of Oriental Mindoro, and it used to be bigger. Gloria was cut out of it during the Macapagal years, taking the barangay of Maligaya and its neighbours along, which is how a town ends up smaller than it was.
