A beach town on a natural harbour, and the usual way into Oriental Mindoro from Luzon. The harbour shelters ships, yachts and bancas from typhoons blowing in off the Pacific, and in November 2004 the bay joined the UNESCO-affiliated Club of the Most Beautiful Bays in the World.
Boats from the Batangas ports cross the Verde Island Passage to reach it. The white sand beaches carry a loud bar scene, and the dive sites off them hold coral gardens and underwater rock formations, with nudibranchs, mantis shrimp, sea anemones, morays and sea horses. Dolphin pods pass offshore, and the rarer whale shark, on the small whale migration route up from the Visayas.
