About Alcantara

Alcantara started in 1730 as La Lauan, a barrio of Looc, took its Spanish name in 1870 and then waited until 1961 to become a municipality of its own. It occupies the southeast corner of Tablas Island facing the Sibuyan Sea, and most people here speak the Alcantaranon form of Inunhan.
