About Banton

Banton is one island and a few uninhabited rocks, nearer the southern tip of Marinduque than to most of Romblon. About 5,800 people live there, and the language they speak is Bantoanon, also called Asi, one of the five primary branches of the Bisayan languages. For a while the town was called Jones.
