About San Jose

San Jose is Carabao Island, also called Hambil, the southernmost island of Romblon and close enough to Panay that colonial administrators kept passing it back and forth between Romblon and Capiz. It became a municipality of its own only in 1969. Its 11,626 people speak Onhan, a Western Visayan language shared with parts of Aklan.
