About Basilan
Basilan is Yakan country, and the tight geometric cloth the Yakan weave is what the island is best known for sending out into the world. It is the largest and northernmost island of the Sulu Archipelago, sitting off the Zamboanga Peninsula, and most of it belongs to Bangsamoro. Isabela, its biggest city and former capital, is administered with the Zamboanga Peninsula instead, which defeats most people trying to map it.
