About Tipo-Tipo

Tipo-Tipo was a much bigger town before 2006, when Al-Barka and Ungkaya Pukan were created out of it and its barangay count fell from 39 to 11. It is better known for 2007, when Abu Sayyaf fighters killed and beheaded 14 Philippine Marines here, with further battles in 2014 and 2016. About 32,700 people live in the town now.
