About Simunul
Simunul is the island where the Arab missionary Karim al Makhdum founded a mosque in 1380, the first in the Philippines and the oldest Muslim site in the country. Nearly everyone on the island is Muslim, six and a half centuries later. The municipality has 35,616 people in fifteen barangays.
