Bucas Grande
Long beaches of fine sand, wide mangrove forest and deep water full of sea life, on a 128 square kilometre island next to Siargao and on the northern side of the province. The island forms the municipality of Socorro, the only island municipality in Surigao del Norte.
Sohoton Cove lies on the island: a cluster of small islets with lagoons, limestone caves and rock formations. Sohoton means narrow opening in Visayan, after the gaps between the islets. The island's own name means large mouth in Philippine Spanish, for the wide strait between it and Socorro Island.
