About Davao de Oro

Davao de Oro means Davao of gold, and it earns the name at Diwalwal in Monkayo, where small scale miners have been working the mountain since the 1980s. The province was Compostela Valley until 2019 and part of Davao del Norte before 1998, so the name on the map is younger than most of the people using it. Nabunturan is the capital.
