About Davao Occidental
Davao Occidental is the newest province in the country, cut out of Davao del Sur in 2013, and one of the least populated: about 318,000 people in five municipalities. Malita is the capital and the biggest town. Its southern boundary is a sea border with North Sulawesi in Indonesia, which is about as far from Manila as Philippine administration goes.
