About Hernani
Hernani was called Nag-as once, after the river that runs southeast of the town centre, and the newer name stuck. It is small even for Eastern Samar, about 8,300 people, and part of its old territory went to make General MacArthur in 1947. Only two towns in the province count fewer residents.
