About Mercedes

Mercedes spent the early American years folded into Guiuan, its barrios handed over by the Philippine Commission, and a law in 1948 made it a town again. It is the second smallest municipality in Eastern Samar with 6,114 people. Only Maslog, up in the north of the province, is smaller.
