Island
Kalanggaman Island
A sandbar island in the sea between Leyte and Cebu, 10 kilometres west of the town of Palompon, which owns and runs it. The name comes from langgam, the local word for bird: when the sandbar forms it is said to take the shape of a bird with a long neck, and people believe migratory birds lived here long ago. The island is also an important breeding ground for the sea life around it.
