About Leyte

MacArthur waded ashore at Palo in October 1944, and the bronze figures standing in the shallows there are still the most visited thing in Leyte. Moron and binagol, the sticky rice sweets sold all over Tacloban, are what people carry home. Tacloban is the capital and the regional centre of Eastern Visayas, administered apart from the province, and the sandbar at Kalanggaman off Palompon is worth the boat out.
