About Caluya

Caluya is not part of the Panay mainland at all but a group of islands, and with 42,895 people it is the sixth most populous town in Antique. Semirara, 55 square kilometres of it, carries the Panian open pit coal mine, working since 1999, and the Unong mine, which ran from 1984 to 2000.
