About Benguet

Half the vegetables on a Manila market table came down the mountain from Benguet, the province people call the Salad Bowl of the Philippines. La Trinidad, the capital, grows strawberries and sells them to everyone who drives up, and it sits in the valley just below Baguio. Baguio is inside the province but runs its own affairs as a highly urbanised city, and it is the regional centre for the Cordillera.
