The seat of the Bishop of Malolos, and the Presidential Palace of the First Philippine Republic. Aguinaldo took over the convent in September 1898 and ordered General Antonio Luna to burn the complex in March 1899 as the American army closed in. The National Historical Institute marked the building in 1956.

The front is Neoclassical with Baroque touches and little ornament. A crypt lies under the high altar, and a chapel for Eucharistic adoration was added in the early 1990s. The parish started as a visita of Tondo in 1572 and became a town parish in 1580. Pope John Paul II raised the church to minor basilica in 1999, and the image of the Immaculate Conception inside was crowned in 2012.
