More than 30,000 tricycles run in Cabanatuan, which is why it calls itself the tricycle capital of the Philippines and why crossing the main road takes patience. The city is the commercial centre for Nueva Ecija and the provinces around it, and the longganisa here is garlicky and worth carrying home. The Cagayan Valley Road through it is the whole reason it grew.
