Rice, corn, root crops, watermelon and mangoes come off the fields around Moncada. The fishery side of the town never recovered from the lahar that came down after Pinatubo erupted, and is still waiting on rehabilitation. About 67,000 people live here, and the poblacion has grown a retail strip along the national highway.
