About Ilocos Sur
Vigan kept its cobbled street of Spanish merchant houses through the war and now runs kalesas along it, which is why most people come to Ilocos Sur. The town also makes burnay, the dark unglazed jars thrown on a foot-turned wheel, and a garlicky longganisa that does not travel under any other name. Vigan is the capital, while Candon further south has more people.
