About Lapu-Lapu City
Most visitors to Cebu land in Lapu-Lapu without noticing, because the international airport sits on Mactan Island inside the city. The name belongs to the chief who killed Magellan on this shore in 1521, and the shrine at Punta Engano marks the spot. Mactan also makes guitars, sold straight out of workshops that have been at it for generations, and the resorts run along the far coast.
