About Guiuan
Magellan's expedition made its first Philippine landfall on Homonhon Island in 1521, and Homonhon belongs to Guiuan. The town holds the southeastern tip of Samar with Leyte Gulf on one side and the Philippine Sea on the other, which is also why it calls itself the surfing capital of the Visayas. It is the most populous municipality in Eastern Samar, 52,749 people.
