About Lawaan
The fighters who walked into Balangiga in 1901 dressed as women, sundang hidden under their skirts, are said to have come from Lawaan. The town sits next door, 13,063 people, and it backs onto the Samar Island Natural Park, the largest protected land area in the country. Bolusao Watershed Forest Reserve lies inside it, in the barangay of the same name.
