About Tacloban City
San Juanico Bridge lands here, which makes Tacloban the way onto Leyte from Samar and sends half the region's traffic through it. The city is the capital of Leyte and the regional centre of Eastern Visayas, the largest in it, and as a highly urbanised city it runs its own affairs. In November 2013 Typhoon Yolanda drove a storm surge through the low ground along the bay and killed thousands. It has been rebuilt since.
